Overview

The message_table block is used to assign a size to a message where a message size was not defined at the time the message was initially transmitted (One way of providing this is to use the WsfMessage.SetSizeInBits or WsfMessage.SetSizeInBytes script methods). If a message size was not defined, the message_table will be consulted using the following algorithm. The first step for which a value is defined will be used: The process of determining the message size will use the first of the following which results in a defined size:

  • Use the entry from the matching ‘comm_type’ block with a matching ‘type’ and ‘subtype’.

  • Use the entry from the matching ‘comm_type’ block with a matching ‘type’

  • Use the ‘default’ entry from the matching ‘comm_type’ block.

  • Use the entry from the ‘default_comm_type’ block with a matching ‘type’ and ‘subtype’.

  • Use the entry from the ‘default_comm_type’ block with a matching ‘type’.

  • Use the ‘default’ entry from the ‘default_comm_type’ block.

Note

The message size is only assigned when first transmitted. It will not be changed if it is subsequently relayed.

Device Commands

comm_type <comm-type>

Introduces a block of type, sub_type and default commands that define the message sizes and optional priorities for messages that originate from comm devices of the specified <comm-type>.

default_comm_type

Introduces a block of type, sub_type and default commands that define the message sizes and optional priorities for messages that originate from comm devices that do not have a corresponding comm_type entry.

Message Size Commands

type <message-type> <data-size-value> [priority <integer-priority-value>]

Specifies the size and optional priority for a message of the specified type.

Note

The type command can be repeated as necessary.

default <message-type> <data-size-value> [priority <integer-priority-value>]

Specifies the default size and optional priority for messages that did not have an applicable type command.

subtype <message-sub-type> <data-size-value> [priority <integer-priority-value>]

Specifies the size and optional priority for a message of the specified sub-type, and the most recently specified type (or default).

Note

This command may be repeated as necessary.
